Institutional and Academic Assessment

Mission

To conduct, support, and coordinate research in an effort to maintain and improve academic programs and student services consistent with the mission and objectives of George Fox University.

Goals

The goals for Institutional and Academic Assessment are to:

  1. Collect, analyze, interpret, and disseminate information that is accurate, timely, useful, and responsive.
  2. Anticipate and fulfill external reporting requirements within established deadlines.
  3. Administer the University's general education and integration assessments in an efficient manner to help faculty and administrators improve student learning and development.
  4. Coordinate the development and implementation of school and program assessment plans that define, measure, and evaluate student learning goals and outcomes.
  5. Facilitate and enhance student development by examining the relationship between student learning and educational practices, determing the factors related to academic success, and evaluating the effectiveness of teaching strategies and extra-curricular programs.

Services

To support institutional assessment, the Director of Assessment is available to:

  1. Consult with University offices, departments, and individuals about
    • Project design
    • Methodology
    • Data collection strategies
    • Analysis and reporting
    • Appropriate use of results
  2. Support assessment activities by providing relevant training and feedback, and designing practical methods of measurement and evaluation.
