Wayne Adams is a graduate of Houghton College; he received an MA and a PhD in developmental/child clinical psychology from Syracuse University. After teaching at Colgate University, he completed postdoctoral training in pediatric psychology at the University of North Carolina, Chapel-Hill. Thereafter, he served as director of the Division of Psychology and as chief psychologist of the Division of Behavioral Medicine at duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Del., a fullservice children's hospital with academic ties to the pediatric residency program at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. Concurrently, Adams was an associate professor at Jefferson Medical College; he has had a private practice as well. He is co-author of the Wide Range Assessment of Memory and Learning-2 (WRAML-2), a nationally known memory scale, as well as four other psychological tests. Adams also serves on a grant review panel for the National Institutes of Health. He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association and a diplomate (ABPP) in clinical psychology.

Primary research interests include child memory and its assessment. Clinical interests include learning and related behavior disorders, pediatric neuropsychological assessment, and various neurodevelopmental disorders. Adams has taken teams of George Fox students abroad for ministry and service opportunities. He is a Fulbright Scholar.
