Nancy S. Thurston, PsyDProfessor of Psychology Telephone: 503-554-2752 E-mail: nthurston@georgefox.edu Nancy Thurston earned a BA in religion from Hope College and an MA and PsyD in clinical psychology from Central Michigan University. She served on the faculty at Fuller Seminary's Graduate School of Psychology for nine years. She is a licensed psychologist in California and Oregon. Her private practice includes work as a ministerial assessment specialist for the United Methodist Church. She is an active member of the Christian Association for Psychological Studies, for whom she gave invited keynote addresses at two of its international conventions. She also served for 10 years as a member of the Executive Committee of Division 36 (Psychology of Religion) of the American Psychological Association. Thurston leads a research team on shame dynamics, and teaches courses in shame both at George Fox and at various continuing education workshops. Her other teaching specialty is in the area of psychological assessment. She has published various articles on shame and is currently doing validation studies of her new projective assessment tool of shame (the Thurston-Cradock Test of Shame), which is scheduled for publication in 2007. |
