Chemistry Research

Undergraduate Research/Field Experience

Students are encouraged to be involved in scientific research and field experience. Students can participate in research projects in conjunction with George Fox university faculty members. Support for student research is augmented by the university's association with the Murdock Undergraduate Collaborative Research Program, Malheur Field Station Consortium, the U.S. Department of Energy, and Sigma Zeta (a national honorary society). Other organizations providing past support for student research include the University of Washington, University of Oregon, University of Nevada, Northwest Environmental Labs (summer undergraduate research participation program), the National Laboratory at Los Alamos, New Mexico, Oregon Health Sciences University, and the Oregon Graduate Institute.

Field experience/internships are also available as part of the chemistry program at George Fox university. These experiences often result in permanent jobs for graduates.

The Biology and Chemistry Department jointly sponsors a science seminar series. Speakers from industry, government agencies, and academia are invited to share on topics relevant to both faculty and students.
