Students who are accepted at the English Language Institute must meet requirements for enrollment at George Fox University. You must have a high school diploma or its equivalent.

You are not required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) if you are applying to study English at the English Language Institute.

Note: If you would like to enroll directly in George Fox University as a regular student, you must submit a TOEFL score of at least 500 (173 on the computer version of the TOEFL). This requirement is waived for students who successfully complete the advanced level in the English Language Institute.

If you would like to apply to the English Language Institute at George Fox University, follow these steps.

1. Contact the director of undergraduate admission for additional information and forms in one of the following ways:

• Download the application from the George Fox University Web site.

2. You may apply at any time, but if possible, apply early in the fall of the year before you want to attend the university. If you want to begin during the fall semester, which begins in August, it is best to submit all application information no later than June 15. If you want to start during spring semester, which begins in January, send all application information no later than December 1. All applications must be completed and submitted in English. We will make a decision on your admission as soon as we have received all the required material.

3. Complete the following items and send them to George Fox University.

• An application for admission (available online)
• Official transcripts of your academic records
• Two recommendation forms (available online)
• A personal statement (available online)
• A $40 nonrefundable application fee
• A Declaration of Finances form or a certified bank statement that demonstrates adequate funds
• Documentation that your immunizations are up-to-date
• Official TOEFL scores (optional but recommended; information about the TOEFL is available at http://www.toefl.org).
