Associate Director of Bands
Richard (Dick) Elliott was raised in McMinnville, Ore., where he had the opportunity to have John McManus as his junior high and high school director. After attending Linfield College and earning a Bachelor of Music with a major in music education he then went on to Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Ill., were he earned a Master of Music with a major in trumpet performance.
Dick began his professional teaching career in Seaside, Ore., in 1966 before moving to Newberg, where he remained for 38 years. Upon retirement, he then joined the music faculty of George Fox, where he has taught for the past nine years. Dick is an active adjudicator and clinician in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, British Columbia and Alaska. He has earned such honors as the Sudler Foundation Order of Merit, the National Band Association Citation of Excellence, and the Oregon Music Educators Association Teacher of the year, among others.
