Phi Alpha Theta Conference 2007

The Alpha Eta Omega chapter of Phi Alpha Theta and the George Fox University Department of History were pleased to host the 2007 Pacific Northwest regional student history conference. Co-hosts were Linfield College, Portland State University and University of Portland. The conference was held in Lincoln City at the Inn At Spanish Head April 12-14, 2007. 21 schools sent 122 students.

Since the conference, the awards committee has met and chosen the following papers:

Best overall paper:
Rachael Birks, Central Washington University, "Dancing Cubanidad: Reconfiguring National Identity Through Fidel Castro's Cultural Project, 1959-1973"

Best undergraduate paper:
Ruth Jacobson, Western Washington University, "A Comparative Look at Puritan Response to Local and Visiting Quakers in 17th Century Massachusetts"

Best graduate paper:
Jonathan Gentry, Portland State University, "The Birth of Gestalt Psychology Out of the Spirit of Music"
