Katie Alaimo participated in the Semester in Spain program through a cooperative agreement with Trinity Christian College of Palos Heights, Ill.
Kaisa Kincaid studied in France through a cooperative agreement with Grace College of Winona Lake, Ind.
Heidi Eidem participated in the Middle East Studies Program in conjunction with the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU). She was based in Cairo, Egypt. During the month of November she traveled to Turkey, Syria, Jordan and Israel/Palestine.

Seth Martin and Heidi Korver studied at Oxford University through the CCCU's program.
On April 7 and 8, 2006, in Boise, Idaho, two students presented papers at the Pacific Northwest Regional Conference. Hannah Combs presented "The Southern Woman's Rebellion Against the Patriarchal System." Lia LaBrandt presented "Harvey's Exercitatio Anatomica de Motu Cordis et Sanguinis in Animalibus': A Study of Influential Factors, Experimental Method, Presentation, and Ultimate Impacts."

Hannah Moats interned for the Washington State Archives.
Spring 2005
Paul Hays studied at Oxford University with the CCCU's program.
Michelle Forbes and Bradley Christensen were awarded for their excellence as the Outstanding History majors for 2005.
Aaron Warkentin interned at the Evergreen Aviation Museum.
Samuel Greene presented a paper at the Pacific Northwest Regional Conference held in Sun Valley, Idaho on April 8 and 9, 2005. His paper was titled "William Walker: Maverick or Yanqui Oppressor."
Stephanie Steinhorst interned as a Living History Instructor with the Champoeg Promise program at Champoeg State Park. Each year the program teaches approximately 3000 students in grades 1-8 about local Oregon history.
Melissa Jackson tutored in the areas of history and geography.
Fall 2004
Several GFU students attended the American Historical Association's annual meeting which was held in Seattle, Washington, in December, 2004. Student attendees included Lindsey O'Reiley, Ivy Manning, Hannah Combs, Brittany Quinn, Stephanie Steinhorst, Aaron Warkentin, Hannah Moats, Sarah Myhre, Rachel Sparks and Lindsey Walker. Accompanying the students were faculty members Caitlin Corning and Paul Otto.
Summer 2004
Stephanie Steinhorst received a Richter fellowship to conduct research on Native American relations with Scottish immigrants in eighteenth-century colonial America.
Spring 2004
During spring semester, 2004, Brady Romtvedt, Samuel Greene, Michael Farale and Paul Southwick studied at Oxford University with the CCCU's program.
Two students presented papers at the 2004 Alpha Theta regional conference held April 16-17 in Helena, Montana. Lindsey J O'Reiley presented her paper entitled, "The New Deal: A Continuation and Advancement of the Progressive Reform Movement." Rachel S. Sparks presented "Duty, Self-Sacrifice and the Ideal of Christian Enslavement: the Pro-Slavery Thought of Louisa S. McCord, 1810-1879." Her paper was one of the finalists for "Best Paper" at the conference.
Phi Alpha Theta held its Spring Initiation Ceremony on March 30, 2004.
Fall 2003
Paul Southwick's paper, Hoover and Volunteerism, was deposited at the Hoover Presidential Library in West Branch, Iowa.
Kelly Cudney is the recipient of the 2003-2004 Laura Smith Haviland Social Studies Teaching Scholarship.
Rachel Sparks spent the semester studying at Oxford with the CCCU's program.
Annamarie Larson was in Seville, Spain, studying history and language.
Kelly Cudney's paper, Lou Henry Hoover: Encouraging by Example, was placed at the Hoover Presidential Library in West Branch, Iowa.
Summer 2003
Rachel Sparks received a Richter Scholars grant to study Louisa S. McCord, an important antebellum political economist in the south.
Samuel Greene received a Richter Scholars grant to conduct field research in Italy. He studied the school voucher program in the province of Lombardia.
Rachel Sparks completed an internship with the Cowlitz County prosecuter's office.
Spring 2003
Several History majors have been chosen to study at CCCU's Oxford program. Stacy Keogh was at Oxford for three weeks in July, 2003.
Six students joined Phi Alpha Theta (the history honor society) and officers were elected for the first time.
Four students presented papers at the regional Phi Alpha Theta meeting in Bellingham, Washington: Annamarie Larson, Matthew Watson, David Mickelson, and Erin Gleason.
Fall 2002
The Alpha Eta Omega chapter of Phi Alpha Theta (the history honor society) was resurrected with 12 new members.
Rachel Sparks received a Richter Scholars grant.
Stephanie Bishop received a Richter Scholars grant.
Lindsey O'Reiley is the recipient of the Benson Scholarship.
