Steve Winterberg joined the Department of History, Politics and International Studies in 2015 as a visiting assistant professor of international and intercultural studies. In the two years before he arrived at George Fox, he was an adjunct professor in global studies at Azusa Pacific University, specializing in teaching anthropology classes to undergraduate students. In addition, since 2011, he served as executive pastor of Citylights Church of Fountain Valley, Calif.

He holds a doctor of philosophy in intercultural studies from Biola University (2015), a master of divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (2003) and a bachelor’s degree in history from Baylor University (2000). He lives in Newberg with his wife Shelly.
