What Can I Do With a Degree in Social Work?

Graduates with an undergraduate degree in social work are afforded a broad range of career choices in human services. A social work graduate will have knowledge, skills, and a value base that has been augmented by professional social work supervision in social services. Specific career choices are broken down into categories:

Child Welfare/Children's Services
Group homes, adoption agencies, child day care, foster care agencies, public or private child welfare organizations, early intervention programs, therapeutic schools/camps

Community Organization
Advocacy organizations, community action agencies, neighborhood community centers, consumer advocacy

Mental Health/Clinical Social Work
Community mental health centers, residential treatment centers, day treatment centers, family service agencies, managed mental health programs

Health Care
Health maintenance organizations, nursing homes, hospitals, clinics, hospice programs, group homes

Criminal Justice/Corrections
Parole, probation, police departments, juvenile courts, victim services, substance abuse, domestic violence

Aging/Gernotology
