Clifford earned an MSW from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and a PhD from Case Western. He taught previously at Campbellsville University in Kentucky. He also has a background in family and youth services with the state of Alaska and worked as an area director for Young Life and served in youth ministry. Cliff joined the faculty in 2002.

Sue earned a BS in sociology from Westmont College and an MSW from Portland State University. She has served as a special education social worker in the public school setting, as a private child and family therapist, and in international adoptions. She has special interest with child spiritual development and integration of theory and practice with children and families.  Sue has been instrumental in developing international placements for social work internships.  Sue has been with George Fox since 1999.

Leslie holds an MSW from the University of Georgia and a PhD from Portland State Universtiy. She arrived at George Fox full time in 2010 with an interest in spirituality in secular social work education and experience in child and family therapy. She has served as an adjunct at GFU and Warner Pacific College.


Instructors for spring 2012  include:

  • Debra Penkin, MSW - We have been fortunate to have Deb teaching for our program for the past seven years.  She comes from a background of teaching social work at Roberts Wesleyan.  Deb will teach Social Policy this term as well as serve as a field liaison; she also works in adoptions.
  •  Erin Johnson, MSW - Has a practice background in working with children and families.  Erin will teach the SWRK 475 Seminar and serve as a field liaison.   
  • Susan Bos, MSW - Susan has been assisting the Field Education Program, serving as an MSW supervisor.  She has a background in adoptions and residence life. 
  • Rhonda Andrews, LCSW - Rhonda is currently serving as an MSW supervisor.  She has been an adjunct instructor at GFU, has a private practice in Newberg, a background in adoptions and has worked with the Oregon Department of Human Services.
