Ed Higgins (Ph.D., Union Institute) is a poet, fiction writer, and essayist with a wide range of writing publications. He also is a part-time farmer who draws much of his writing inspiration from his back-to-the-land experiences. Melanie Springer Mock (Ph.D., Oklahoma State University) is the Writing and Literature department chair. Her book, on the diaries of Mennonite Conscientious Objectors written during World War I, was published in 2003 by Cascadia Press. Melanie's scholarly interests include nonfiction writing, composition and rhetoric, and autobiography. Becky Ankeny (PhD, University of Oregon) teaches British literature and writing. Her research interests include the writings of George MacDonald, C. S. Lewis, Muriel Spark, and William Blake. Her book, The Story, the Teller and the Audience in George MacDonald's Fiction came out from Mellen Press in 2000. Becky is also currently an itinerant preacher at Northwest Yearly Meeting and has been a guest chapel speaker numerous times here at George Fox. Gary Tandy (PhD, University of Tulsa) directs our department's Reading Lab and serves as the Associate Director of the Academic Resource Center. He teaches a variety of writing courses for us including technical writing courses, English Skills, and composition. His personal academic interests focus on the rhetoric of C.S. Lewis and Christianity and Literature. Gary comes to us from Cascade College and brings extensive experience as a professional technical writer. Learn more...
