Why Come?

You are opening a new chapter of your life. To help you prepare, we are presenting Genesis as your introduction to George Fox University.

In preparation for Genesis, you are encouraged to visit the Resources for Current Undergraduates page.

Remember...Genesis is an important first step on the journey of your college career. If you are not able to attend, talk to your admissions counselor.

"In the Beginning..." Every great story begins with a genesis. To help equip you for your exciting days ahead at George Fox, we invite you to join us for Genesis, a day of introductions, information, and preparations - A DAY OF BEGINNINGS.

Registration

You will need to have paid your $300 Tuition Deposit in order to register for Genesis.

Costs

Students are free. The cost is $10 per parent/spouse/sibling. A light continental breakfast and lunch will be provided for everyone who has registered. Siblings are welcome to attend, although day care will not be provided and there will not be a program designed for siblings.

General First-Year Student Schedule

You will receive a detailed schedule when you arrive

(8:00 a.m.) Early check-in for students taking a French or Spanish placement exam
8:30 - 9:00 a.m. Check-in and light continental breakfast
9:00 - 9:30 a.m. Official Welcome and students meet their student host
9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Students will receive a detailed schedule and guests will receive a detailed schedule at check-in. Events for students and guests include:
  • register for classes
  • hear from student financial services
  • hear from residence life
  • hear about and experience academic life
  • Lunch for students and guests
  • hear from health and counseling
  • hear from current students and parents
  • get your student ID card
  • learn about book buying
3:00 - 3:30 p.m. Reconnect and Closing
3:30 - 5:00 p.m. Final Events (optional time). Campus and residence hall tours, shop at the university store, individual appointments with student financial services, pick up your computer, etc.

Transportation

Need a ride? We can pick you up at the Portland airport, train station, or bus depot. Call 800-765-4369 ext. 2240 with your itinerary at least a week before Genesis. The event ends at 5:00 p.m., and the airport is about an hour away, so plan accordingly.
