Students receive new iPad as part of MOL Online Major

The new iPad will be distributed to students starting the MOL online major this coming May 2012. In keeping pace with technological advances in online education delivery, George Fox University's Adult Degree Program is continuing to provide all admitted students to the online format of the Management and Organizational Leadership degree completion major with Apple’s latest tablet, the new iPad. Students joining us for the January 2013 (Spring 2013) cohort will receive the latest version of this tablet.

The decision allows for the primary use of ebooks and utilizes the portaibilty of the device in conjunction with features that allow for students to remain connected to one another, their professors, and GFU staff members.

The new iPad allows students to have an even better experience utilizing iBooks, PDF notes and other reader applications. These apps are ideal for working with course syllabi and other handouts, video conferencing, and for sharing documents and course notes. It also opens up a vast amount of educational interactive online tools and curriculum.

As Dr. George Brytek, professor of organizational leadership, states: “We believe that having standardized technology and software for video conferencing aids in maintaining close contact between student and instructor and among members of the cohort. This continues to facilitate our ability to deliver on our promise that each student will ‘Be Known.’ It has helped us to move in the direction of exclusively using digital books and learning materials to create efficiency, cost savings, and a reduction of our carbon footprint.”

Admitted students will receive their iPad during the first required face-to-face weekend held at the Portland Center.
