I’ve had the privilege of serving on the George Fox Alumni Board for the last six years, and it’s been an amazing experience. After graduation from Fox in 2003, I knew I needed to get back on campus and give in some way. Finances weren’t looking so hot as a recent grad, but I knew there were other ways to support my alma mater. Providing volunteer hours on the board and at events was perfect for where I was at the time.
I had a blast seeing so many of my friends and making new ones at homecoming, basketball games and graduations. What I wasn’t expecting was how much every experience and person blessed me. I think I got more enriched and spiritually fed the last six years than I could have ever expected getting my entire life. What an incredible time in my life.
I encourage anyone who has a few hours during homecoming, graduation or any other event to consider volunteering. I bet you’ll be surprised how amazing the experience will be for you.
