Homecoming 2006 a Big Success
By Nate McIntyre ’00, Dir. of Alumni Relations

All of us associated with George Fox University are part of shaping lives to impact the world for God's kingdom. At events like Homecoming, when you come home and share your stories, the impact is evident and inspiring.

Hundreds of you came back in February to reconnect with each other and with the university. Especially successful were this year's affinity reunions for alumni from Jerry Friesen's a cappella choirs and the track and field and cross country programs. I was able to pop into both reunions and see many joyful reunions between old friends. I also heard stories of how your coaches and directors have had a significant impact on your lives. Many student-athletes have gone on to coach and teach, and several choir alumni have gone on to careers in music teaching or conducting. All of you, regardless of vocation, have taken what you learned from your mentors while here at George Fox and put it to use to impact others. I'm amazed at the great legacy that our outstanding faculty, directors, and coaches pass on to their students who then pass it on to others.

Another highlight and more evidence of your impact on the world was the Alumni Celebration Brunch, where we gave out this year's Honored Alumni Awards. I'm always amazed at the stories of these outstanding people and how God has used their lives to his glory. The most amazing part is there are many others of you just as worthy of an award. We truly have great alumni, and I'm proud to be associated with this university because of you.

If you missed homecoming this year, I hope you'll make an extra effort to attend next year. It is an opportunity to be encouraged by people who are connected by a common thread.
