A Note from
President Brandt: George Fox Responds to Hurricane
Katrina
The events of the past week seem far away when the
weather in Oregon is sunny and warm. What we know comes
by way of the various news media with pictures that
seem impossible. We are a nation that prides itself in
responding quickly to human need, whether in our
country or elsewhere. This week we seem not to have
done very well. The university responds both
individually and collectively. Many individuals will
give to various relief agencies, but we must also
respond as an institution. An excerpt from a
message sent Sept. 6 to all George Fox University
community members by David Brandt, university
president.

A record incoming undergraduate class of 581 –
457 of whom are first-time freshmen – has spurred
George Fox to a 19th consecutive year of growth. The
university broke the 3,100 barrier this fall, enrolling
1,856 undergraduates, 1,063 in its graduate programs,
and 249 seminary students for a total student
population of 3,168 as of Sept. 9, the last day of
add/drop. Traditional undergraduate enrollment is up
5.3 percent over 2004. Last year, enrollment topped
3,000 students for the first time (3,034), thanks in
part to a record incoming undergraduate class of
527.
Under
Construction
Pardon our dust ... George Fox is currently working on
three construction projects to make our growing Newberg
