Alumni Board
Member Norman Winters Named University Volunteer of
the Year
Early every Thursday morning, rain or shine, Norman
Winters walks across the street from Friendsview
Retirement Community to George Fox University to
provide a little known volunteer service. Winters,
72, spends three hours shuttling the
university’s pool of vans and vehicles across
campus to fuel and keep them ready to drive. For this
and for his hundreds of other hours spent in
volunteer service to the university and community,
George Fox University honored Norman Winters as its

Important Announcement
for Alumni with Student
Loans
Interest rates for federal student loans (Stafford
and PLUS) will increase significantly on July 1,
2006. Because of this increase, alumni who have not
consolidated may wish to consider this in order to
save money over the life of their loan. The Student
Financial Services Office has developed a website
that has information about consolidation options. The
address is:
http://www.sfs.georgefox.edu/consolidate.html.
For alumni with alternative loans, there is
information on the website about consolidating those
as well.
