MyGFU Online Alumni Directory

Over the past two years, George Fox University has been transitioning to a new administrative database. During that process, the former online alumni directory, located on Bruindata, was decommissioned. Ever since, Alumni Relations has been working with the university's IT department to develop and launch a new directory: the MyGFU Online Alumni Directory. After months of discussion, planning, and testing, this new resource is now live for use by our alumni!

This page is designed to help alumni take full advantage of this all-new resource.

If you have questions about the MyGFU Online Alumni Directory that are not answered below, please contact Alumni Relations at alumni@georgefox.edu or 503.554.2134.

Using the MyGFU Alumni Directory

What fields can I use to search for alumni in the MyGFU Online Alumni Directory?

You can search the directory by first and last name, class year, city, and state. You can use these fields individually, or together to narrow your results.

You can also use the “last name” field to search by the name an alumnus used as a student (often maiden name).  Please keep in mind, this process pulls names from the last semester an alumnus was enrolled. Therefore, if an alumnus got married prior to their senior year, the search will only pull the married name.

The “City” field searches by the exact city you enter, not the broader geographic area.

What is the best way to find a particular alumnus?

The search function will use whatever information you type into the search fields. The more you include, the more specific the search will be. However, this can also make it more difficult to find the person you are looking for. If you spell a name incorrectly, use a nickname, or search the wrong year, you likely won't find the alumnus you are looking for. Instead, try limiting your search to only a few fields to start with.

For example, if you are looking for your friend Mike Miller from 1992, try searching for him by typing "Miller" in the last name field, and "Mi" in the first name field all while leaving the class year blank. By doing so, you are more likely to find him, especially since he is listed as Michael (not Mike) in our database and he actually got his degree in 1993 (not 1992 like you remember). All alumni are in the directory, these hints will help you find them.

I searched for myself and my information was wrong. How do I update my info?

Updating the information on your directory profile is easy. Just complete and submit the Alumni Update Form located here (also linked on the Alumni Relations home page). In addition to updating your information, you can use this form to submit news for the George Fox Journal magazine as well.

Can I search by occupational data?

We hope to have this feature developed soon. Please let us know if you are looking to use this feature, and it will help us prioritize this project higher.
