NEWBERG, Ore. - Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski will visit George Fox University to welcome students and recognize the university's 2004 national champions next week when the university begins the new academic year.

Kulongoski, Newberg Mayor Bob Stewart, and George Fox President David Brandt will address more than 1,200 students and employees at the opening chapel service 10:35 a.m.-11:30 a.m., Monday, Aug. 30, at Bauman Auditorium on the George Fox University Newberg campus. Stewart has designated Aug. 30 as "George Fox Bruin Baseball Day" in Newberg. Monday is the first day of undergraduate classes. The governor will be given a Bruin baseball cap and jacket. After Kulongoski and Stewart's remarks, George Fox President David Brandt will give the main address.

Record Enrollment Expected

George Fox is expected to enroll more than 3,000 students this year, including more than 500 incoming undergraduate freshmen and transfers. This will be the 18th consecutive year of record enrollment. In 1986, university enrollment was 549.
