COACH MARK SUNDQUIST
Mark Sundquist (Seattle Pacific '89), the 2005-06 Northwest Conference Coach of the Year, is 56-85 (.397) to date in his 6th season as a college head coach, all at George Fox. He picked up his 50th win on Dec. 6 when the Bruins rallied from 15 down to defeat Corban College 87-82. He coached the boys' programs at Woodburn (Ore.) High for two years and at Newberg (Ore.) Senior wing Aaron Schmick led the Bruins in scoring in both games of a 1-1 week, receiving honorable mention for Northwest Conference "Player of the Week" for Jan. 16-22. In a 78-61 win over Pacific Lutheran, he scored 24 points on 9-15 from the floor (4-8 on threes) and 2-2 from the line, with 3 rebounds, 3 assist, and 3 steals. In an 86-77 loss at Willamette, he had 23 points on 9-13 from the field (3-7 on threes) and 2-2 from the line, with 5 rebounds and a steal. For the week, he scored 47 points (23.5 ppg) on 18-28 (.643) from the field, including 7-15 (.467) on threes, and 4-4 (1.000) from the line, with 8 rebounds (4.0 rpg), 3 assists, and 4 steals. A First Team All-Conference performer last year, it was the third consecutive week for him to receive honorable mention.

With an 11-6 record this year, the George Fox Bruins now have an all-time record of 999-1,020-1 (.495) in their 102nd season of competition. The Bruins missed out on their first try for No. 1,000 when they fell 86-77 at Northwest Conference-leading Willamette Saturday night, and face a tough challenge trying to get it this weekend as they travel to Whitworth Friday and Whitman Saturday.
