COACH MARK SUNDQUIST
Mark Sundquist (Seattle Pacific '89), the 2005-06 Northwest Conference Coach of the Year, is 59-87 (.404) to date in his 6th season as a college head coach, all at George Fox. He picked up his 50th win on Dec. 6 when the Bruins rallied from 15 down to defeat Corban College 87-82. He coached the boys' programs at Woodburn (Ore.) High for two years and at Newberg (Ore.) * Schmick HM for NWC "Player of the Week" for Jan. 30-Feb. 5
Senior wing Aaron Schmick continued his torrid play as the Bruins split their two Homecoming weekend games, receiving honorable mention for Northwest Conference "Player of the Week" for Jan. 30-Feb. 5. In a 97-76 loss to Puget Sound, he scored 19 points on 4-8 from the floor (1-2 on threes) and 10-10 from the line, with 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. In a 79-72 win over Pacific, he had 23 points on 6-12 from the field (3-5 on threes) and 8-10 from the line, with 4 rebounds and 3 assists. For the week, he scored 42 points (21.0 ppg) on 10-20 (.500) from the field, including 4-7 (.571) on threes, and 18-20 (.900) from the line, with 6 rebounds (3.0 rpg), 6 assists (3.0 apg), and 2 steals. He stretched his streak of consecutive free throws made to 48 before missing his first attempt in the Pacific game. A First Team All-Conference performer last year, it was the fifth consecutive week for him to receive honorable mention.

* Bruins Add to 1,000 Wins in 102-Year History
After taking two out of three home games during the past week, the Bruins' all-time record is now 1,002-1,022-1 (.495) in 102 seasons of men's basketball. The Bruins earned their 1,000th win when they defeated Whitman 87-79 in Walla Walla, Wash., on Jan. 28. The Bruins' current 14-8 record also assures them of their second winning season in a row and 47th in team history, along with four .500 seasons â?¦
* Schmick's Free Throw Streak Ends 8 Short of Record at 48
Aaron Schmickhit 10-10 free throws vs. Puget Sound on Friday, stretching his string of consecutive free throws made to 48, before missing his first attempt vs. Pacific on Saturday. It was the second-longest streak in George Fox men's basketball history. The only longer stretch is 56 in a row by Gary Chenault during the 1978-79 season. After missing his last free throw attempt at Pacific on Jan. 7, Schmick's streak began with a 16-16 game at Linfield on Jan. 10, the third-best game in Division III this year. He then went 3-3 at Lewis & Clark, 0-0 vs. Walla Walla, 2-2 vs. Pacific Lutheran, 2-2 at Willamette, 5-5 at Whitworth, 10-10 at Whitman, and 10-10 vs. Puget Sound. After going 8-10 vs. Pacific, he added another 10-10 game vs. Linfield on Tuesday, the fifth time in his career he has been perfect with 10 or more free throws made â?¦
