COACH MARK SUNDQUIST
Mark Sundquist (Seattle Pacific '89) is 67-94 (.416) to date in his 7th season as a college head coach, all at George Fox. He was the NWC Coach of the Year in 2004-05 for leading the Bruins to an 18-7 record and 2nd place in the conference. He coached the boys' programs at Woodburn (Ore.) Chris Parker has been named the Bruin Athletic Association Men's Athlete of the Week and received honorable mention for Northwest Conference Men's Player of the Week for Jan. 1-7as the Bruins split a pair of conference home games. In a 77-63 win over Whitman Friday, the senior forward scored 17 points on 6-11 field goals and 5-5 free throws, with 2 rebounds and a steal. In an 83-53 loss to 6th-ranked Whitworth Saturday, he had 1 points on 3-7 field goals and 7-8 free throws, with 3 rebounds. For the week, he had 30 points (15.0 ppg) on 9-18 (.500) field goals and 12-13 (.923) free throws, with 5 rebounds and a steal. He is 7th in the conference in scoring (16.3) and field goal pct. Mike "Biggs" Wirta, George Fox's statistical guru who saw his 1,000th Bruin men's basketball game on the final day of last season vs. Willamette on Feb. 18, stretched his streak of consecutive GFU men's basketball games watched to 600 when the Bruins hosted Whitman and Whitworth Jan. 5-6. He has now seen 1,012 GFU men's games (49.6% of all 2,040 games in the team's 103 seasons of competition). He has worked 433 in a row at home, not missing a home game since 1972 when he was in military service.
