COACH MARK SUNDQUIST

Mark Sundquist (Seattle Pacific '89) is 68-95 (.417) to date in his 7th season as a college head coach, all at George Fox. He was the NWC Coach of the Year in 2004-05 for leading the Bruins to an 18-7 record and 2nd place in the conference. He coached the boys' programs at Woodburn (Ore.) Brent Satern has been named Bruin Athletic Association Men's Athlete of the Week and received honorable mention for Northwest Conference Men's Player of the Week for Jan. 8-14 as the Bruins split a pair of conference home games. In a 72-52 win over Willamette Friday, the junior point guard scored 18 points on 5-12 field goals (3-4 on threes) and 5-5 free throws, with 5 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals. In a 70-69 loss at Pacific Saturday, he had 19 points on 7-12 field goals (3-6 on threes) and 2-4 free throws, with 4 assists. For the week, he had 37 points (18.5 ppg) on 12-24 (.500) field goals, including 6-10 (.600) on threes, and 7-9 (.778) free throws, with 5 rebounds, 10 assists, and 2 steals. He is 7th in the conference in scoring (16.3) and field goal pct. (.538), 8th in free throw pct. (.814) and 20th in rebounding (4.8) â?¦

Mike "Biggs" Wirta, George Fox's statistical guru who saw his 1,000th Bruin men's basketball game on the final day of last season vs. Willamette on Feb. 18, stretched his streak of consecutive GFU men's basketball games watched to 602 when the Bruins played Willamette and went to Pacific Jan. 12-13. He has now seen 1,014 GFU men's games (49.7% of all 2,042 games in the team's 103 seasons of competition). He has worked 434 in a row at home, not missing a home game since 1972 when he was in military service.
