* Bruins Lose No. 2 Scorer Heu-Weller Indefinitely
It has been a tough senior season for Bruin wing Phil Heu-Weller. In December, he suffered a broken nose in practice and played several games with a clear plastic mask on his face to protect it. On Jan. 13 at Pacific, he suffered what was later diagnosed as strained ligaments in his foot and has missed the last three games. He is hopeful of returning in time for the Bruins' final two regular-season games on Homecoming weekend Feb. 16-17. Heu-Weller was the Bruins' No. 2 scorer (15.4 ppg) when he went out. When the season began, he had a chance to become the 33rd player in the Bruins' 103-year basketball history to reach 1,000 points, but if he does not play again, he will end his three-year GFU career with 809 points and a total of 817 in four years (he had 8 points as a freshman at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in 2003-04).
