COACH MARK SUNDQUIST
Mark Sundquist (Seattle Pacific '89) is 72-98 (.424) to date in his 7th season as a college head coach, all at George Fox. He was the NWC Coach of the Year in 2004-05 for leading the Bruins to an 18-7 record and 2nd place in the conference. He coached the boys' programs at Woodburn (Ore.) Chris Parker has been named Bruin Athletic Association Men's Athlete of the Week and received honorable mention for Northwest Conference Men's Player of the Week for Jan. 29-Feb. 4 as the Bruins went 1-2. In a 73-68 win at Northwest Christian Monday, he scored 21 points on 4-8 field goals and 13-15 free throws, with 7 rebounds, an assist and a steal. In a 69-59 loss at Whitman Friday, he had 7 points on 2-11 field goals and 3-4 free throws, with 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals. In a 90-64 loss at Whitworth Saturday, he had 22 points on 6-10 field goals and 10-10 free throws, with 9 rebounds. For the week, he scored 50 points (16.7 ppg) on 12-29 (.414) field goals and 26-29 (.897) free throws, with 20 rebounds (6.7), 3 assists, and 5 steals. A five-time winner of the BAA award and the NWC Player of the Week for Nov. 13-19, he is 2nd in the NWC in free throw pct. (.824), 7th in scoring (16.0), 9th in field goal pct. (.523), and 19th in rebounding (4.8).

Mike "Biggs" Wirta, George Fox's statistical guru who saw his 1,000th Bruin men's basketball game on the final day of last season vs. Willamette on Feb. 18, stretched his streak of consecutive GFU men's basketball games seen to 609 with two games this past week. He has now seen 1,021 GFU men's games (49.8% of all 2,049 games in the team's 103 seasons of competition). He has worked 435 in a row at home, not missing a home game since 1972 when he was in military service.
