COACH MARK SUNDQUIST
Mark Sundquist (Seattle Pacific '89) is 65-89 (.422) to date in his 7th season as a college head coach, all at George Fox. He was the NWC Coach of the Year in 2004-05 for leading the Bruins to an 18-7 record and 2nd place in the conference. He coached the boys' programs at Woodburn (Ore.) * Heu-Weller BAA Athlete of the Week, HM for NWC Honors
Senior wing Phil Heu-Weller has been named the Bruin Athletic Association Men's Athlete of the Week and received honorable mention for Northwest Conference Men's Player of the Week for Nov. 20-26 as he led the Bruins in scoring in both games of a 1-1 trip to Hawaii. In the Bruins' first game of the US Bank-Whitworth College Maui Classic in Pukulani, Hawaii, on Thanksgiving Day, he scored 23 points in an 84-61 loss to Concordia-Irvine, hitting 7-16 from the field (3-6 on 3's) and 6-9 from the line, with 5 rebounds and an assist. In a 63-56 win over Alvernia on Friday, he scored 16 points on 4-10 from the field (4-9 on 3's) and 4-5 from the line, with 4 rebounds and 2 assists. For the week, he scored 39 points (19.5 ppg) on 11-26 (.423) from the field, including 7-15 (.467) on 3's, and 10-14 (.714) from the line, with 9 rebounds (4.5 rpg) and 3 assists. He is currently 3rd in the NWC in scoring (19.2), 6th in 3-pt field goal pct. (.481), 10th in 3-pt field goals (2.60), and 20th in rebounding (5.4).

* The Wirta Watch: "Biggs" Adds Three Games to Streaks
Mike "Biggs" Wirta, George Fox's statistical guru who saw his 1,000th Bruin men's basketball game on the final day of last season vs. Willamette on Feb. 18, continues to add to his remarkable streaks of attendence. With the Bruins' two games games in Hawaii over the Thanksgiving holidays and the NWC opener Tuesday vs. Linfield, he has now seen 1,005 GFU men's games (49.4% of all 2,033 games in the team's 103 seasons of competition). He has seen 593 straight games, home and road, and has worked 431 in a row at home, not missing a home game since 1972 when he was in military service. A member of the GFU Sports Hall of Fame Class of 1998, he also serves on the Hall of Fame Committee as its resident historian, calls statistics for the women's games, and keeps the Bruins' baseball scorebook. He was the GFU Volunteer of the Year in 1988, and inducted into the NAIA District 2 Hall of Fame in 1994.
