Corban (2-3): The Warriors from Salem, Ore., are members of the NAIA Division II and the Cascade Collegiate Conference ... George Fox leads the series 50-32 since 1971 (25-14 home, 25-18 road) ... The Bruins have won the last three meetings, including a 74-61 win in Newberg on Nov. 17 to open last season and then an 80-63 win in Salem on Dec. 9 in the Hillyers Mid-City Ford Classic ... The Warriors' last win in the series was 108-100 on Nov. 22, 2005, in Salem ... Corban averages 91.4 ppg while allowing 96.6 ppg ... COACH MARK SUNDQUIST

Mark Sundquist (Seattle Pacific '89) is 74-103 (.418) in his eighth season as a college head coach, all at George Fox. In the past three-plus years, he has guided the Bruins to a 48-32 record (.600). He was the NWC Coach of the Year in 2004-05 for leading the Bruins to an 18-7 record and 2nd place in the conference. He coached the boys' programs at Woodburn (Ore.) BRUIN BITS:

* Sports Hall of Fame to be Introduced at Halftime on Dec. 8

Members of the George Fox Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2008 will be introduced at halftime of the Bruins' men's game vs. Northwest on Saturday, Dec. 8, which starts at 8:00 p.m. The inductees, who make up the 13th class to be admitted to the Hall, included track/basketball player Nancy Rissmiller, track and field athletes Adolphus Onua and John Smith, the 1980 women's track and field team, former baseball coach Pat Bailey, and Tom Hewitt for meritorious service. Induction festivities include a reception at 3:30 p.m. and dinner at 4:00 p.m. in the Klages Dining Hall of the Heacock Commons on the Newberg campus, the awards ceremony, a GFU women's basketball game vs. Warner Pacific at 6:00 p.m., and then the halftime show at the men's game. * Metzler BAA Athlete of the Week, HM for NWC Honors

Senior wing Mark Metzler has been named the Bruin Athletic Association Men's Athlete of the Week and also received honorable mention for Northwest Conference Men's Player of the Week for Nov. 19-25 after his performance in the Bruins' only game of the week, a 63-50 loss at NAIA power Northwest (Wash.) on Nov. 21. He scored 8 points on 4-6 shooting from the field, led the team for the third time in as many games in rebounds with 7, and had an assist. Metzler currently is tied for 6th in the NWC in rebounding (6.7 rpg).

- Brent Satern had 6 assists in the Bruins' game at Northwest on Nov. 21, giving him 358 for his career. He needs 15 more to tie Jordan Green (373, 1997-2001) for 10th on the all-time GFU list ...

* The Wirta Watch: "Biggs" Has Seen More than Half of All Bruin Games

Mike "Biggs" Wirta, who has been charting basketball statistics for the George Fox men's team since the 1970-71 season while he was an undergraduate student, hit a major milestone with the Bruins' second game vs. Colorado College in the Colorado College Tipoff Tournament on Nov. 16. It was the 1,027th game he has seen, which was exactly half of the 2,054 games that had been played in 104 years of Bruin basketball. With the Bruins' game at Northwest on Nov. 21, he has now seen over half (1,028 of 2,055) and stretched his streak of consecutive GFU men's basketball games seen, both home and road, to 616. He has also worked 438 in a row at home, not missing a home game since 1972 when he was in military service.
