3/7/2008 - PACIFIC 4-WAY: Bruins Take First in Ten Events in Pacific 4-Way Meet

FOREST GROVE, Ore. - In the first on-campus track and field meet held on the Pacific University campus since the 1960s, the George Fox University Bruins took first place in 10 events - six by the women, four by the men - in the Pacific 4-Way Meet Friday here at Lincoln Park Stadium. The throwing events and steeplechase were held at George Fox's Colcord Field.
In the women's team scoring, Linfield College edged George Fox 168-161, while Lewis & Clark College was third with 145 points and Pacific had 60. On the men's side, Linfield dominated with 190 points, followed by Lewis & Clark with 129, Pacific 125, and George Fox 124.
Firsts for the Bruins women went to Elisha Kampfe in the 100 meter dash (13.21), Lisa Mensonides in the 400 meter dash (59.44), Irene Johnson in the 100 meter hurdles (15.55), Cindy Walsh in the long jump (16-6.50/5.04m), Sierra Whitehill in the triple jump (33-6.75/10.23m), and the 4x400 meter relay team of Terah Laack, Kelly Bladorn, Greta Erickson and Mollie Honan (4:08.31).
The Bruins dominated the 100, taking the top four spots. Behind Kampfe came Johnson (13.26), Honan (13.29), and Walsh (13.55). Other seconds by the Bruins included JulieKay Brown in the 400 (1:00.70), Honan in the 100 hurdles (16.46), Bladorn in the 400 meter hurdles (1:10.68), Katie Alaimo in the high jump (4-11.00/1.50m), Connie Steiner in the pole vault (9-0.25/2.75m), Hannah Printz in the shot put (31-3.25/9.53m), and Marlee Zakrevsky in the hammer (72-02/22.01m) and the javelin (106-5/32.44m). Whitehill took third in the long jump (15-9.0/4.80m) and Laack was third in the javelin (101-3/30.86m).
Winners for the George Fox men were Nate Dillow in the 110 meter hurdles (15.86), Ben Dillow in the pole vault (13-0.25/3.97m) and the discus (132-10/40.48m), and Ben Burgess in the hammer (145-6/44.35m). In the pole vault, two other Bruins also vaulted 13-0.25 - Ryan Forbes and Nate Dillow - but finished second and third based on the number of tries needed to clear the height. David Dillow was fourth in the vault at 12-6.00/3.81 as the Bruins controlled the event.
Other seconds went to John Zaganiacz in the 400 meter dash (52.10) and Forbes in the 110 hurdles (15.89). Thirds were posted by Brian Terletzky in the 400 (52.57) and Adam Haldorson in the 400 meter hurdles (1:00.60).
The next competition for the Bruins is their own Frank Haskins Invitational on Saturday, March 15, with events starting at 11:00 a.m.
