Linfield (14-9, NWC 9-5, 3rd): The defending conference co-champion Wildcats from McMinnville, Ore., were picked to finish 2nd in the pre-season Northwest Conference coaches' poll, the Bruins 6th ... COACH STEVE GRANT
Steve Grant (Biola '69) is 527-342 (.606) in his 26th season as a college head coach, all at George Fox. He entered this season ranked 9th in victories among all-time active D-III coaches. He was Northwest Conference Coach of the Year in 1998, NAIA District 2 Coach of the Year in 1984 and 1990, and NCCAA National Coach of the Year in 1984 and 1987 when his teams won NCCAA national championships. * Panico Honorable Mention for NWC Player of the Week
Sophomore outside hitter Jennifer Panico received honorable mention for Northwest Conference Player of the Week for Oct. 22-28 as the Bruins went 1-1. In a 3-2 loss to Pacific on Oct. 24, she had 13 kills, a .222 hitting pct., 1 assist, 17 digs and 1 block assist. In a 3-1 win at Willamette on Oct. 26, she had 13 kills, a .191 hitting pct., 2 assists, 19 digs and 1 block assist. For the week, she had 26 kills (2.89 kpg) and 7 errors in 92 attempts (.207), 3 assists, 36 digs (4.00 dpg), and 2 block assists (2-5). It was her third time this fall to be nominated for NWC weekly honors. Panico ranks 8th in the NWC in digs (4.36).

- Elizabeth Anderson, with 110 blocks on the season, has boosted her career total to 417, tied for 2nd on the all-time GFU list with Beth Davis (417, 1996-99). Kim Reidel (481, 1988-89) is the all-time leader, but her blocks were posted under different scoring rules, during an era when blocks were given not just for a winning point but any time an attack was returned and kept in play by a blocker ...
