Box Score

CALDWELL, Idaho - For the fourth time in as many games, the George Fox University Bruins put together a second half that was even better than the first, and this time, it paid off in a come-from-behind 71-58 women's basketball win over host Albertson College in the Lady 'Yote Classic Saturday night (Nov. 30) here at the Albertson Activities Center.

The visiting Bruins led for most of the first half, building up an 8-point lead at 27-19 with 5:02 to play as Darby Cave led the way with 8 of those points. The Lady Coyotes came roaring back, however, tying the game 27-27 on a layup by Krystal Thacker with 1:29 left and taking a 32-29 lead on a 3-pointer by Alyssa Latham with 17 seconds to go. Cave tipped in a miss at the buzzer to cut the Bruins' halftime deficit to 32-31.

The second half stayed close for the first six-and-a-half minutes, and was tied for the 8th and final time at 42-42 on a jumper by Albertson's Kristen Bailey with 13:46 left in the game. But Kim Leith hit a jumper at 13:21 to put the Bruins ahead and start an 8-0 run for a 50-42 lead. The Lady 'Yotes got no closer than 6 points the rest of the game as the Bruins outscored the home team 29-16 in the final 13 minutes.

Cave and Leith finished with 14 points apiece for George Fox and Kellie Thomas added 13. Cave also had 12 rebounds, and Amy Fitch and Laura Koval had 8 each, as the Bruins controlled the boards 51-41, including 25 on the offensive end.

Heidi Goicoechea led Albertson with 14 points, followed by Bailey with 12 and Latham with 11. Lindsey Karren had 11 rebounds for the Lady 'Yotes.

George Fox is now 3-1 on the season with its third straight win, all over NAIA schools, while Albertson dropped to 4-5.

The Bruins return to action Saturday (Dec. 7), visiting Western Baptist College for a 7:30 p.m. game. The Bruins defeated the Warriors Tuesday 69-55 in their home opener in Newberg.
