COACH SCOTT RUECK (Oregon State '91) has a record of 119-40 (.748) in his 7th season as a head coach, all at George Fox. He notched his 100th career win last season when the Bruins defeated Northwest 78-68 on Dec. 1 in the PLU Parkland Chevrolet Classic in Tacoma, Wash. He was Northwest Conference "Coach of the Year" in 1999-2000 and "Co-Coach of the Year" in 2000-01. Against this week's opponent, he is 4-2 vs. Seattle (3-0 in Newberg, 1-2 in Seattle).

* Fitch Honorable Mention for NWC Player of the Week:
Amy Fitch (Jr., P, Portland, Ore,) (Jr., W, Ritzville, Ore,) sparked the Bruins to a 71-59 victory over Western Baptist in Salem on Dec. 7 in their only game of the week, earning Honorable Mention for Northwest Conference "Player of the Week" for Dec. 2-8. In that game, she led the Bruins with 17 points, hitting 4-10 from the field (1-3 on 3's), and 8-9 from the line, with a team-high 7 rebounds. She also had 3 assists as the Bruins won their 4th straight.
NWC "Player of the Week" went to Tiffany Speer of Whitworth for the second week in a row as she led the Pirates to a pair of wins with 44 points, 21 rebounds, 12 assists and 5 steals.

* Bruins Aim for 4th Straight 20-Win Season:
With a final 20-6 record in 2001-02, the George Fox Bruins posted their 3rd straight season of 20 or more wins. No Bruin teams had ever posted back-to-back 20-win seasons; in fact, George Fox had only two 20-win seasons in women's basketball history prior to 1999, going back to the '81-82 season when complete records began to be kept.

Non-conference game ... The Redhawks from Seattle, Wash., are members of the NCAA Division II and the Great Northwest Athletic Conference ... The series is tied 4-4 (GFU leads 3-1 in Newberg, but 1-3 in Seattle) ... Rematch of the season opener for both teams, in which the Bruins suffered their only loss of the season, 57-46 on Nov. 23 in Seattle ... In that game, Liz Clark and Sarah Myhre led the Bruins with 9 points and 7 rebounds each, while the Redhawks got 15 from Kristin Connolly, 14 from Lisa Milne, and 13 from Leah Welton ... George Fox shot .167 in the 1st half and .565 in the 2nd half ... The Bruins had won the last three meetings before this season, including a 72-59 win at Seattle on Feb. 26, 1999, the last time the two had played when Seattle was still a part of the Northwest Conference ... Connolly averages 15.4 points per game, Welton 11.0, and Milne 10.8 ... Connolly at 5.6 and Welton at 5.2 are the Redhawks' top rebounders ... Seattle scores 63.4 and gives up 61.4 points a game ... The Redhawks are being out-rebounded 33.4 to 40.2.
