2/13 - GEORGE FOX 84, WILLAMETTE 58: Cave and Taylor Combine for 41 as Bruins Batter Bearcats

SALEM, Ore. - Led by a combined total of 41 points by Darby Cave and Robin Taylor, the George Fox University Bruins cruised to their second straight runaway win with an 84-58 decision over the Willamette University Bearcats in a Northwest Conference women's basketball game Friday night here at Cone Field House.

Taylor hit 4 of 5 3-point shots in the first half en route to a career-high 20 points in the game, and Cave added 21 points and 7 rebounds. The two were a combined 10-of-11 in the first half as the Bruins opened up an 18-point lead at the break. The Bearcats could get no closer than 17 in the second half as the Bruins, coming off a 71-52 win over Linfield on Tuesday, exploded for their largest scoring output of the season.

In addition to the big nights by Cave and Taylor, Amy Fitch added 10 points and 7 assists for the Bruins. Liz Clark grabbed 11 rebounds as the Bruins won the battle of the boards 48-32. George Fox shot 48% from the field (46% from 3-point land) while holding Willamette to only 33% of their shots.

The Bearcats had four players in double figures. Megan Scheelar had 16 points and 5 rebounds, Deanna Lund had 12 points and 6 boards, Simmie Muth scored 11 first-half points, and Abbie Unick returned to the lineup to score 10 points.

George Fox improved to 11-9 overall and 5-7 in the conference, while Willamette skidded to 4-16 overall and 0-11 in league play.

Both teams are on the road Saturday (Feb. 14), the Bruins visiting Pacific University in Forest Grove and the Bearcats going to Lewis & Clark College in Portland. Both games begin at 6:00 p.m., followed by men's games at 8:00 p.m.
