NORTHWEST CONFERENCE: George Fox (4-1) entertains D-II St. Martin's Friday and goes to NAIA foe Western Baptist Saturday as non-conference play continues. Puget Sound (3-0) is the NWC's only unbeaten team left. Pacific Lutheran is this year's slight NWC favorite over Whitworth, with the Bruins picked 3rd. COACH SCOTT RUECK (Oregon State '91) has a record of 134-50 (.729) in his 8th season as a head coach, all at George Fox. He was Northwest Conference "Coach of the Year" in 1999-2000 and "Co-Coach of the Year" in 2000-01. He and his wife Kerry, a GFU assistant coach and former Bruin player, became proud parents on Oct. 21 with the birth of their first child, son Cole Michael.

* Leith Honorable Mention for NWC "Player of the Week":

Kim Leith earned Honorable Mention for Northwest Conference "Player of the Week" for Dec. 1-7 with her performance on Saturday against Cascade. The 5-7 wing gave the Bruins a tremendous spark off the bench with 20 points, hitting 8-12 from the field, including 4-6 from 3-point range. She also collected 3 rebounds and 3 assists as the Bruins outscored the Thunderbirds 41-13 in the second half for a 70-37 win in their home opener.

NWC "Player of the Week" honors went to Tiffany Speer of Whitworth for her 73 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, and 6 steals in the Pirates' 3-0 week.

* Bruins Again One Assist Short of Record:

For the second time this season, the George Fox Bruins handed out 26 assists in a game in their 70-37 win over Cascade on Dec. 6 in their home opener, falling one short of the team's single-game record. The Bruins had 27 assists in an 89-86 overtime loss at home to Northwest Nazarene on Feb. 8, 1991, and in a 10-28 win at home over Columbia Christian on Jan. 30, 1993.
