NORTHWEST CONFERENCE:
Alone atop the Northwest Conference after two wins over the weekend and a loss by former co-leader Whitworth, the Bruins have destiny in their own hands. The Bruins' upcoming road trip to Tacoma looms large, as Puget Sound (Friday) and Pacific Lutheran (Saturday) are always tough at home. UPS was the pre-season conference favorite and will be dangerous despite only a 6-6 league record. PLU is still very much in the chase, 1.5 games behind the Bruins and only one behind in the loss column. With two home games against teams in the lower half of the league standings to end the season next week, this weekend's games will go a long way toward determining the Bruins' chances of making the NCAA Division III Tournament. For the latest NWC standings, visit the conference website at www.nwcsports.com.
COACH SCOTT RUECK:
Scott Rueck (Oregon State '91) is 159-66 (.707) to date in his 9th season as a college head coach, all at George Fox. He notched his 150th win when the Bruins defeated Whitman 62-55 in overtime in Walla Walla, Wash., on Jan. 7. He was NWC Coach of the Year in 1999-2000 and Co-Coach of the Year in 2000-01. Click here for the complete bio on Coach Rueck.
