* National Polls: Bruins Get Every Vote for 2nd in WBCA Poll
In the USA Today/ESPN/Women's Basketball Coaches Association poll of Jan. 3, George Fox (11-0) received all 8 votes for second place, remaining in that sport for the second straight week, while Washington University of Missouri (10-0) received every vote for first place. Washington had 200 points in the balloting to 192 for the Bruins. 1n 2001, when the Bruins spent two weeks as the No. 1-ranked team (in the d3hoops.com poll), it was Washington, which had spent three straight years in the top spot, that George Fox supplanted.
And speaking of the latest D3hoops.com poll of Jan. 3, everything is still scrambled. The Bruins, who went 2-0 since the last poll, earned four votes for first and 554 points, one point more than the week before - but actually dropped a spot from third to fourth! Washington (10-0) leapfrogged the Bruins into third, but got more first-place votes (9) than either of the top two teams. The University of Southern Maine (10-1) stayed No. 1 with six firsts and 579 points, and Brandeis University (6-0) remained second with five firsts and 573 votes.
