Scott Rueck (Oregon State '91) is 179-68 (.725) to date in his 10th season as a college head coach, all at George Fox. He was named Northwest Conference Coach of the Year for the third time in 2004-05 after leading the Bruins to the NWC title and the "Elite 8" of the NCAA National Tournament. * Leith HM for NWC Player of the Week for Jan. 9-15
Senior wing Kim Leith was instrumental in the Bruins' two road wins during the week, receiving honorable mention for Northwest Conference Player of the Week for Jan. 9-15. In a 75-43 win at Linfield, she had 26 points on 8-12 from the field (6-7 on threes) and 4-5 from the line, with 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Her 6 three-pointers were one short of the record of 7 by Christy Brock vs. Whitman on Jan. 8, 1999. In a 63-46 win at Lewis & Clark, she had 10 points on 3-13 from the field (1-4 on threes) and 3-4 from the line, with 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. For the week, she totaled 36 points (18.0 ppg) on 11-25 (.440) from the field, including 7-11 (.636) from three-point range, and 7-9 (.778) from the line, with 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals. She was NWC Player of the Year in 2004-05 and a pre-season Third Team All-America selection by D3hoops.com this year.

* National Polls: Bruins Up to 4th in Both Rankings
A pair of wins on the road last week enabled the Bruins to climb in both national polls this week. In the USA Today/ESPN/Women's Basketball Coaches Association poll of Jan. 17, George Fox received 107 points from five voters and moved up from 5th to 4th. The University of Southern Maine (14-1) remained No. 1 with 122 points and 4 votes for 1st. Pacific Lutheran University (13-1), a fellow NWC team and Friday's opponent in a battle with first place in the league on the line, moved into the Top 25 at 22nd with 16 points.
In the D3hoops.com poll of Jan. 17, the Bruins climbed two spots, from 6th to 4th, with 477 points. Southern Maine stayed No. 1 with 617 points and 14 votes for 1st. PLU, Friday night's opponent, cracked the Top 25 at 25th with 64 points.
