ON THE AIR! KFOX to Broadcast/Webcast 40 Bruin Games This Season
Announcing an expanded schedule, George Fox University campus radio station KFOX plans to broadcast and webcast 40 Bruin basketball games during the 2005-06 seasons, according to station sports director Courtney Ngai.
The schedule includes 22 of the men's 25 regularly-season contests and 18 of the 25 women's games. In addition to selected non-conference games and all 16 Northwest Conference games, home and away, for each team, any games the Bruins play in the Northwest Conference Tournament will be aired. Should either or both Bruin teams advance to the NCAA National Tournament, plans will be announced at that time.
Various staff members of KFOX, coordinated by advisor Josh Nauman of the university's Communications department, will handle the play-by-play and color commentary duties.
Because of the limited range of the non-profit station, fans outside the George Fox campus may have trouble picking up the KFOX radio broadcasts, but the webcast is easily accessible through the internet at www.foxradio.net. Listeners will need a high-speed connection and QuickTime 6.0 or higher, and a download for QuickTime is provided on the KFOX web site.

* Halftime Promotions for Bruin Basketball Games
A number of special promotions are scheduled for the halftimes of George Fox men's and women's basketball games throughout the 2005-06 season, including:
"Halftime Hoop Shoot/Half-Court Shoot" - Co-sponsored by the Coffee Cottage in Newberg and Country Insurance & Financial Services, this promotion takes place at the halftime of every home game, unless a long halftime entertainment performance requires most of the 15-minute break. Tickets for $1 are sold in the gym lobby until just before halftime, and one lucky ticketholder is selected to shoot. Five dollars' worth of coupons to the Coffee Cottage is awarded for each one of three shots (free throw, three-pointer, and half-court shot) that is made.
A made half-court shot also earns the shooter the Country Financial "pot" for the evening, which increases by $50 at each game if no shot is made (the pot begins at $50 at the start of each team's season). All proceeds from the ticket sales go to the GFU basketball programs as a donation.
"Coyote Joe's Race" - New this year is the "Coyote Joe's Race", sponsored Coyote Joe's expresso shop on Highway 99 North in Newberg. Four game programs at each game are signed by a Bruin player, and whoever has one of the autographed programs may enter the race. The contestants sit in chairs at mid-court, two chairs facing each goal, and have to race toward the basketball goal at one end to make any shot of their choosing, then race back. One contestant on each side is eliminated, and the two survivors then do the same thing to determine an overall winner.
Other special promotions, mainly during the second semester, will be announced as plans for each are finalized.
