Scott Rueck (Oregon State '91) is 171-67 (.718) to date in his 10th season as a college head coach, all at George Fox. He was named Northwest Conference Coach of the Year for the third time in 2004-05 after leading the Bruins to the NWC title and the "Elite 8" of the NCAA National Tournament. Sophomore post Katy Campbell held the Bruins' hottest hand during a 2-0 week against conference competition, receiving honorable mention for Northwest Conference Player of the Week for Nov. 28-Dec. 4. In a 58-42 win over Whitworth on Dec. 2, she scored 11 points on 4-7 field goals and 3-3 free throws, with 6 rebounds. In a 64-48 win over Whitman on Dec. 3, she had 13 points on 6-9 field goals, including 1-2 on 3's, with 6 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal. For the week, she scored 24 points (12.0 ppg) on 10-16 (.625) field goals, including 1-4 on 3's, and 3-3 (1.000) free throws, with 12 rebounds (6.0 rpg), an assist and a steal.

A 6-0 start has lifted the George Fox Bruins from a pre-season ranking of 8th to 5th in the first ESPN/USA Today/Women's Basketball Coaches of America NCAA Division III poll of the season. The Bruins received 163 points in balloting by a panel of nine D-III coaches from around the country. The University of Southern Maine was tabbed No. 1 with 195 points and 5 first-place votes.
In the second D3hoops.com regular season poll, the Bruins actually slipped one spot to 7th with 484 points, up from 434, despite a 2-0 week. Washington University of Missouri had a 3-0 week and pulled ahead of the Bruins into 5th from 9th. Defending national champion Millikin University remained atop the poll with 20 first-place votes and 620 points.

* Bruins Off to Third-Best Start in History
The Bruins' 6-0 start to the 2005-06 season is the third-best in team history. The 2000-01 team opened up 9-0 before falling at defending NAIA national champion Northwestern of Iowa, then reeled off 11 more wins to earn a D-III No. 1 national ranking at 20-1. The 2001-02 team equaled that record of 11 straight wins to start the season before Pacific Lutheran ended the run in Tacoma.
