Scott Rueck (Oregon State '91) is 173-67 (.721) to date in his 10th season as a college head coach, all at George Fox. He was named Northwest Conference Coach of the Year for the third time in 2004-05 after leading the Bruins to the NWC title and the "Elite 8" of the NCAA National Tournament. * Leith HM for NWC Player of the Week for Dec. 5-11
Senior wing Kim Leith led the Bruins in scoring in both games during a 2-0 week, receiving honorable mention for Northwest Conference Player of the Week for Dec. 5-11. In an 86-55 win over Cascade on Dec. 8, she scored 17 points on 5-8 field goals, including 3-5 on threes, and 4-5 free throws, with 3 rebounds, 4 steals, 1 assist and 1 blocked shot. In a 100-72 win over Western Oregon on Dec. 9, she had 22 points on 8-14 field goals, including 6-8 on threes, with 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals. For the week, she scored 39 points (19.5 ppg) on 13-22 (.591) field goals, including 9-13 (.692) on threes, and 4-5 (.800) free throws, with 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 8 steals. A three-time NWC Player of the Week last year, she was NWC Player of the Year, Second Team All-West Region, Honorable Mention All-American, and this year was a pre-season Third Team All-America pick by D3hoops.com.

Getting the only first-place vote that didn't go to Southern Maine, the George Fox Bruins received that nod for the top spot and 499 total points, climbing one spot to 6th, in the third D3hoops.com regular season poll released Tuesday. The Bruins had 484 points last week. Defending national champion Millikin lost to Illinois College last week and fell out of the top spot to 7th, allowing Southern Maine to jump into first with 24 of 25 first-place votes and 623 points.
In the USA Today/ESPN/Women's Basketball Coaches of America poll, the Bruins advanced two places to 3rd, garnering 174 points from the panel of eight coaches who do the voting. Southern Maine remained first with 198 points and Washongton (Mo.) was second with 192.

* Bruins Tie Record with 16 Threes in Western Oregon Game
With 16 three-point field goals in their 100-72 win over Western Oregon on Dec. 9, the Bruins tied their team record for most threes made in a game, which was first set on Feb. 8, 2000, at Lewis & Clark. Kim Leith made 6 of them, one short of the individual mark of 7 by Christy Brock vs. Whitman on Jan. 8, 1999 â?¦ The Bruins also threatened two other records in that game. Their 100 points fell 5 shy of the record set by the Bruins against Western Baptist (now Corban) in a 105-39 win on Nov. 20, 1992, while their 25 assists were 2 short of the record 27 vs. Northwest Nazarene on Feb. 8, 1991, and vs. Columbia Christian on Jan. 30, 1993 â?¦
* Bruins Can Equal Second-Best Start with Win on Saturday
The Bruins can equal their second-best start to a season with a win on Dec. 17 over Western Oregon. The Bruins, currently 8-0, could match the 9-0 start of the 2000-01 team, which fell at defending NAIA national champion Northwestern of Iowa in its 10th game, then reeled off 11 more wins to earn a D-III No. 1 national ranking at 20-1. The 2001-02 team equaled that record of 11 straight wins to start the season before Pacific Lutheran ended the run in Tacoma.
