COACH SCOTT RUECK:
Scott Rueck (Oregon State '91) is 195-78 (.714) to date in his 11th season as a college head coach, all at George Fox. He was named Northwest Conference Coach of the Year for the third time in 2004-05 after leading the Bruins to the NWC title and the "Elite 8" of the NCAA National Tournament. * Campbell BAA Athlete of the Week, NWC Player of the Week
Katy Campbell has been named Bruin Athletic Association Women's Athlete of the Week and Northwest Conference Women's Player of the Week for Jan. 15-21 after leading the Bruins to a pair of league road wins. In a 50-47 win at Pacific Lutheran Friday, the junior forward had 9 points on 4-11 field goals and 1-2 free throws, with 8 rebounds, 3 assists, a steal and a turnover. She scored the winning basket at PLU with two minutes left, then blocked a potential tying three-point shot as time expired. In a 77-73 win at Lewis & Clark Saturday, she had 17 points on 7-11 field goals (2-3 on threes) and 1-2 free throws, with 5 rebounds, an assist and a steal. For the week, she scored 26 points (13.0 ppg) on 11-22 field goals (.500), including 2-4 (.500) on threes, and 2-4 (.500) from the line, with 13 rebounds (6.5), 4 assists, 2 steals and a blocked shot. She ranks 4th in the NWC in rebounding (8.0), 6th in field goal pct. (.465), 7th in free throw pct. (.767), 13th in scoring (9.9), and 14th in assists (2.25). She is the second Bruin to receive NWC women's honors this season - Melissa Marek-Farris won the award Jan. 1-7.

* Polls: Bruins Still Among "Others" in National Rankings
The George Fox Bruins remained the top vote-getter among "other receiving votes" in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Poll of Jan. 23. The Bruins received 13 points, down from 17 the week before, in the balloting by 10 head coaches around the country. Puget Sound (14-3) was 20th with 57 points. Chicago (16-0) replaced Bowdoin as the top-ranked team with 246 points and seven first-place votes.
In the D3hoops.com poll of Jan. 22, which is voted on by a panel of 25 coaches, sports information directors, and media members, the Bruins picked up 11 votes (the same as last week) and were ninth among "others receiving votes". Puget Sound was 22nd with 100 points. Scranton replaced Bowdoin as the top-ranked team with 567 points and 7 first-place votes (six different teams got votes for first).
