2/26 - NCAA REGIONALS: George Fox to Host Four-Team D-III Tournament Regional March 2-3

NEWBERG, Ore. - George Fox University has been selected to host one of 16 regional playoffs in the 26th annual NCAA Division III Women's Basketball National Tournament this Friday-Saturday, March 2-3, according to information released this morning by the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Selection Committee.
George Fox (18-6) will be joined in the Newberg regional by Gustavus Adolphus College (22-5) from St. Peter, Minn., McMurry University (24-4) from Abilene, Texas, and the University of Puget Sound (21-6) from Tacoma, Wash. Friday's games in the Wheeler Sports Center's Miller Gym will match Puget Sound and McMurry at 5:30 p.m., followed by George Fox and Gustavus Adolphus at 7:30 p.m. The two winners will meet Saturday at 7:30 p.m. for the right to advance to one of four four-team sectionals March 9-10 at a site to be determined. The NCAA Division III Final Four is set for March 16-17 at Springfield College's Blake Arena in Springfield, Mass.
Tickets for each evening of the regional are priced at $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for children, students, and seniors age 55 and up. Separate tickets are required for each session; there are no tournament packages.
George Fox and Puget Sound were Northwest Conference co-champions, with George Fox winning the conference tournament and receiving an automatic (Pool A) bid. Gustavus Adolphus and McMurry were runners-up in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and the American Southwest Conference respectively, and each lost in their conference tournament finals. Puget Sound, McMurry, and Gustavus Adolphus all then received at-large (Pool C) bids to the national tournament.
