* Buzzer Beaters Don't Bother Bruins
In four of their first five games this season, the Bruins' opponents have scored a basket just in time to beat the buzzer at the end of the first half - and the Bruins have won all four of those games. The latest was a desperation three-pointer from halfcourt by Puget Sound's Allison Craven on Dec. 2 that banked in as the horn sounded, cutting a George Fox lead to nine points, but the Bruins responded with the first seven points of the second half and went on to a 58-50 win over the NCAA Division III's 19th-ranked Loggers. "We'll have to remember to give up a couple of buzzer-beaters this weekend," joked Bruin coach Scott Rueck.
