12/29 - Bruins' Game with Wisconsin-Oshkosh Saturday Canceled by Weather
TACOMA, Wash. - Heavy snowfall in the Denver, Colo., area has grounded numerous air travelers, including the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh women's basketball team that was scheduled to participate in the Pacific Lutheran University Classic tonight and Saturday, Dec. 29-30, here in Olson Auditorium. As a result, the George Fox University Bruins will not play the Titans Saturday as originally scheduled, and instead will have only one game in the tournament, this evening vs. Thompson Rivers University at 5 p.m.
The Titans left Oshkosh for the four-team tournament on Thursday, but several feet of snow and hazardous conditions in Denver canceled the team's flight from Milwaukee to Denver. The team was unable to acquire air transportation to the Tacoma area that bypassed Denver.
Because the Titans are unable to travel, the Classic will have only two games, with PLU also taking on Thompson Rivers Saturday at 5 p.m. Neither game will count on the record for George Fox or Pacific Lutheran because TRU is affiliated with the Canadian Interuniversity Sport League and games with its members are not recognized by the NCAA.
Fans who wish to follow the GFU-TRU game tonight at 5 p.m. may log on to the PLU web site and access their LiveStats program at http://www.plu.edu/%7Eathletic/wbball/livestats/xlive.htm.
