COACH SCOTT RUECK:

Scott Rueck (Oregon State '91), the 2006-07 Northwest Conference Coach of the Year, is 211-81 (.723) to date in his 12th season as a college head coach, all at George Fox. He also received NWC Coach of the Year honors in 1999-2000, 2000-01 (Co-Coach), and 2004-05. * Campbell BAA Athlete of the Week, HM for NWC Honors

Senior forward Katy Campbell has been named the Bruin Athletic Association Women's Athlete of the Week for Dec. 24-30 after strong games in the Bruins' 2-0 week. In a 72-51 win at Northwest on Dec. 28, she posted her third double-double of the season and 10th of her career with 17 points, hitting 7-13 from the field (1-4 on threes) and 2-2 from the line, with 11 rebounds and an assist. In an 87-32 win over Worcester State on Dec. 29, she scored 11 points in 15 minutes, hitting 4-5 from the field (2-2 on threes) and 1-1 from the line, with a rebound and an assist. For the week, she scored 28 points (14.0) on 11-18 from the field (.611), including 3-6 (.500) on threes, and 3-3 (1.000) from the line, with 12 rebounds (6.0) and 2 assists. She also received honorable mention for Northwest Conference Player of the Week for Dec. 17-26 after earning All-Tournament honors in the Posada Royale #1 Tournament Dec. 17-18 in Thousand Oaks, Calif. The next NWC Player of the Week will not be announced until after games of Jan. 4-5. Campbell currently ranks 1st in the NWC in field goal pct. (.577), 2nd in 3-pt field goal pct. (.550), 7th in rebounding (7.6), 8th in free throw pct. (.783, T), 9th in blocked shots (0.56, T), scoring (13.2), and 13th in 3-pt field goals (1.22, T).

The George Fox Bruins are ranked 18th in the D3hoops.com NCAA Division III national poll of Dec. 31, receiving 175 points after being 16th with 251 points the week before. In the USA Today / ESPN poll of Jan. 1 as voted on by the Women's Basketball Coaches of America, George Fox was 20th with 56 points after being 18th with 61 points the week before. George Fox has been ranked in the polls six of the past eight years (2000, '01, '02, '05, '06, '07). The Bruins' highest ranking ever was No. 1, a spot they held for two week in February of 2001.

The only other Northwest Conference team in the rankings is Puget Sound, which is 23rd in the D3hoops.com poll and received votes in the WBCA poll. The Bruins and Loggers, co-champions of the NWC last year, will meet for the first time on Jan. 5 in Newberg. Hope (10-0) is ranked as the No. 1 team in both polls this week.

For the second time this season, the Bruins posted a win by more than 50 points when they whizzed past the Worcester State Lancers from Massachusetts 87-32 on Dec. 29 in Newberg. The Bruins had opened the season with a record-setting 111-13 win over Multnomah Bible. All 13 players who got into the game for the Bruins scored, with Mandee Spotts and Kristen Shielee leading with way with 15 and 13 points respectively, each establishing new career highs. Spotts was 6-9 from the field, including 3-3 from three-point range, while Shielee was 6-7 from the floor and 1-1 from the line, with 7 rebounds and a pair of blocked shots.

* NCAA Stats: Bruins Listed 16 Times, No. 1 in Scoring Defense

In the first NCAA Division III national statistics reports of 2007-08 (thru Dec. 16), George Fox is 1st in scoring defense (37.6), 3rd in scoring margin (+33.6) and rebound margin (+15.2), 9th in assists (18.8), 11th in 3-pt field goals (7.4), 12th in blocked shots (5.6), 13th in field goal pct. defense (.311), 14th in assist/TO ratio (1.00), 16th in field goal pct. (.461), 61st in scoring offense (71.2), 70th in 3-pt field goal pct. (.343), and tied with 17 others for best won-lost pct. (1.000, 5-0) ... The Bruins' 111 points vs. Multnomah Bible on Nov. 16 is the 5th-most scoring in a game this season ... Individually, Katy Campbell is 45th in field goal pct.
