Scott Rueck (Oregon State '91), the 2006-07 Northwest Conference Coach of the Year, is 220-82 (.728) to date in his 12th season as a college head coach, all at George Fox. He also received NWC Coach of the Year honors in 1999-2000, 2000-01 (Co-Coach), and 2004-05. * Marek-Farris BAA Athlete of the Week, HM for NWC Honors

Senior center Melissa Marek-Farris has been named the Bruin Athletic Association Women's Athlete of the Week and received honorable mention for Northwest Conference Women's Player of the Week for Jan. 28-Feb. 3 for her play during the Bruins' 1-1 trip to Tacoma. In a 58-35 win at Pacific Lutheran on Feb. 1, she had 10 points on 4-6 from the field and 2-2 from the line, with 4 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. In a 59-43 setback at Puget Sound on Feb. 2, she had 13 points on 4-6 from the field, with 8 rebounds, 2 blocked shots and a steal. For the week, she scored 23 points (11.5) on 8-12 (.667) field goals and 7-8 (.875) free throws, with 12 rebounds (6.0), 4 blocked shots and a steal. Marek-Farris ranks is 1st in the NWC in blocked shots (2.11), 2nd in field goal pct. (.538), 8th in free throw pct. (.781), 10th in rebounding (6.3), 21st in scoring (9.6), and is 39th nationally in blocked shots â?¦

* Rankings/Polls: GFU Slip to 18th in D3hoops Poll, 19th in WBCA

After defeating Pacific Lutheran for their 12th straight win and then falling at 23rd-ranked Puget Sound, the George Fox Bruins slipped six spots to 18th in the D3hoops.com NCAA Division III national poll of Feb. 4, receiving 212 points after being 12th with 342 points the week before. In the USA Today / ESPN poll of Feb. 5 as voted on by the Women's Basketball Coaches of America, George Fox slid six places to 19th with 63 points after being 13th with 100 points the week before. George Fox has been ranked in the polls six of the past eight years (2000, '01, '02, '05, '06, '07). The Bruins' highest ranking ever was No. 1, a spot they held for two week in February of 2001.

Puget Sound (16-3) was the only other Northwest Conference team ranked, climbing to 17th with 230 points in the D3hoops.com poll and 18th with 66 points in the WBCA poll. William Smith (16-1), the only other team to defeat the Bruins this season, was 15th with 270 points in the D3hoops.com poll and 14th with 122 points in the WBCA poll. Hope (18-0) was ranked No. 1 in both polls for the sixth week in a row.

The Bruins have set or tied seven new records thus far in 2007-08:

- Most Consecutive Wins - 12, 12/18-2/1 (previous record was 11, achieved 4 times)
- Most Points, Game - 111 vs. Multnomah Bible, 11/16 (previous record was 105 vs. Western Baptist, 11/20/1992)
- Fewest Points Allowed, Game - 13 vs. Multnomah Bible, 11/16 (previous record was 23 vs. Pacific, 2/22/2005)
- Largest Winning Margin, Game - 98 (111-13) vs. Multnomah Bible, 11/16 (previous record was 76 vs. Columbia Christian, 104-28, 1/30/1993)

* Bruins' Win Over PLU Sets Record with 12th Straight Win

With their 58-35 win at Pacific Lutheran on Feb. 1, the Bruins finally broke through the 11-wins-in-a-row barrier to set a new team record for consecutive wins with 12. The Bruins opened the season with five straight wins before William Smith, currently ranked 15th nationally, handed them their first loss of the season, a 61-58 setback in the Posada Royale No. 1 Tournament in Thousand Oaks, Calif., on Dec. 17. The Bruins began their 12-game streak the next day in the same place with a 72-46 win over California State-East Bay. The added a road win at Northwest and a home win over Worcester State before beginning Northwest Conference play with nine straight victories. The Bruins defeated PLU and Puget Sound at home, Willamette and Linfield on the road, Lewis & Clark at home, then won four straight road games over Pacific, Whitman, Whitworth, and PLU. The streak was halted on Feb. 2 on the road by 23rd-ranked Puget Sound.

The previous record of 11 straight wins had been accomplished four previous times. In 1999-2000, the Bruins won 11 in a row from Jan. 8-Feb. 12, and in 2000-01, they did it from Jan. 5-Feb. 10, a stretch that lifted them to a 20-1 overall record and the No. 1 ranking in the nation. They opened the 2001-02 season with 11 in a row from Nov. 17-Jan. 2, and opened the 2005-06 season with 11 straight from Nov. 18-Jan. 2, which earned them a No. 2 national ranking before the streak ended.

* Bruins Have Secured 15th Consecutive Winning Season

With a 17-2 record and six regular-season games remaining, the Bruins have secured their 15th winning season in a row. The first three were achieved under of Sherri Murrell (1993-96), who was 51-33 before leaving for the head coaching position at Washington State and is now the coach at Portland State. The last 12 in a row have come under Scott Rueck, the winningest coach in Bruin women's cage history at 220-82.

* NCAA Stats: Bruins Have Led Nation in Defense All Season

In the latest NCAA Division III national statistics reports of 2007-08 (thru Feb. 3), George Fox remained 1st in scoring defense (43.4), where they been in every statistical report this season, while ranking 8th in fewest personal fouls (12.9), 10th in rebound margin (+11.2), 11th in scoring margin (+21.4), tied for 14th in won-lost pct. (.895), 18th in free throw pct. (.746), 19th in field goal pct. defense (.329), 22nd in field goal pct. (.444), 25th in blocked shots (4.7), 30th in 3-pt field goals (6.4), 45th in fewest turnovers (16.6), 52nd in 3-pt field goal pct. (.342), 53rd in assist/TO ratio (0.86) ... The Bruins' 111 points vs. Multnomah Bible on Nov. 16 is tied for the 6th-most scoring in a game this season ... Individually, Katy Campbell is 25th in field goal pct. (.552) ... Melissa Marek-Farris is 39th in blocked shots (2.1) ...
