Fri., Feb. 29, 7:00 p.m. - at University of Puget Sound, in Tacoma, Wash. (tentative)

Tickets, available at the door one hour before tipoff, are $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under and seniors 65 and up. Students from the two schools will be admitted free with a student ID, but tickets are required for all others.
The winner of Wednesday's contest will travel to Tacoma, Wash., to play Puget Sound for the tournament title Friday at 7:00 p.m., with that winner receiving the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Tournament which begins the following week. All other NWC teams must hope for an at-large bid to the tournament. Complete NCAA teams and brackets are expected to be announced around 9:00 a.m. Eastern time (6:00 a.m. Pacific) on Monday morning, Mar. 3.
The Bruins are the defending NWC Tournament champions, having defeated Puget Sound 58-51 in Newberg to win last year's title. The Bruins and UPS Loggers tied for first place this year (for the second year in a row) and split their regular season meetings, so the conference's second tiebreaker in the current system was used, which is the teams' records against NWC teams in descending order. Puget Sound swept the third-place Lewis & Clark Pioneers while the Bruins split with the Pios, thus the Loggers are the home team for the tournament finale.

* Polls/Rankings: GFU 18th/20th Nationally, 2nd in West Region
After finishing the regular season with a 2-0 week, the George Fox Bruins (22-3) remained 18th in the D3hoops.com NCAA Division III national poll of Feb. 25, receiving 208 points after being 18th with 201 points the week before. In the USA Today / ESPN poll of Feb. 26 as voted on by the Women's Basketball Coaches of America, George Fox was up two places to 20th with 60 points after being 22nd with 32 points the week before. George Fox has been ranked in the polls at some point in the season seven of the past nine years (2000, '01, '02, '05, '06, '07, '08). The Bruins' highest ranking ever was No. 1, a spot they held for two week in February of 2001.
Puget Sound (21-4) was the only other Northwest Conference team ranked, standing 22nd with 130 points in the D3hoops.com poll and 22nd with 50 points in the WBCA poll. Hope (24-0), one of three remaining unbeatens, was ranked No. 1 in both polls for the ninth week in a row. No. 2 Howard Payne and No. 3 Thomas More are both 25-0.
In the second NCAA Division III regional rankings of Feb. 20, George Fox was 2nd in the West Region behind Simpson IA (21-2). Other teams ranked in the West are Puget Sound, Chapman (22-3), St. Benedict MN (19-4), and Gustavus Adolphus (16-7). The next regional rankings are expected out Feb. 27.

* Bruins Secure Fifth NWC Title in Last NineYears
By finishing with a 14-2 record in Northwest Conference play, the Bruins earned a share of the conference title with Puget Sound, their fifth NWC crown in the last nine years. In 1999-2000, the Bruins were 14-2 in league play and shared the title with Pacific Lutheran. In 2000-01, they were 15-1 and won their first outright championship. The Bruins stood by themselves again in 2004-05, going 14-2. Last year, they shared first place with Puget Sound, both teams at 13-3. This year is the first time the conference has had back-to-back co-champions since the 1984 and 1985 seasons when Willamette and Pacific shared the title in both seasons.
* Bruins Need Two Wins to Set Season Wins Record at 24
With a 22-3 record heading into the Northwest Conference Tournament, the Bruins have their collective eye set on the possibility of establishing a new single-season record for wins. If the Bruins can knock off Lewis & Clark Wednesday in the tournament semifinals, they will equal the high water mark of 23 wins reached in both the 1999-2000 (23-5) and 2000-01 (23-3) seasons. They could then better that number with a win over Puget Sound in the tournament finale Friday in Tacoma, Wash., or in the first round of the NCAA Division III National Tournament if they should receive an at-large bid. The Bruins long ago sewed up their 15th straight winning season, including each one of coach Scott Rueck's 12 seasons at George Fox.
* 2007-08 Records
