* Rankings/Polls: Bruins 21st in D3hoops Poll, 26th in WBCA
After finishing 25th in both national polls at the end of last season, the George Fox Bruins find themselves listed in both pre-season polls this year. In the USA Today / ESPN poll as voted on by the Women's Basketball Coaches of America, George Fox was picked 26th with a total of 39 points, one vote behind 25th-ranked Lake Forest College of Illinois. In the D3hoops.com poll, the Bruins were tabbed 21st, tying for that spot with Emmanuel College of Massachusetts with 136 points.
George Fox has been ranked in the polls six of the past eight years (2000-2002 and 2005-2007). The Bruins' highest ranking ever was No. 1, a spot they held for two week in February of 2001.
The only other NWC team in the rankings is Puget Sound, which was picked 19th in both polls. Ironically, in the pre-season poll of conference coaches, George Fox was picked ahead of Puget Sound, the Bruins being favored to win the league with the Loggers finishing second.
The WBCA poll selected Washington University of Missouri as the pre-season No. 1 team, while the D3hoops.com poll had the University of Mary Washington from Virginia as its top team. Defending national champion DePauw University of Indiana was second in the WBCA poll and fifth in the D3hoops.com poll. Six different teams in the WBCA poll and eight in the D3hoops.com poll picked up first-place votes.

* Bruins Set Six New Records in Win over Multnomah
The Bruins' season-opening 111-13 win over Multnomah Bible College at home on Nov. 16 shattered the record books as six new single-game marks were set:
- Most Points - 111 (previous record was 105 vs. Western Baptist, 11/20/1992)
- Fewest Points Allowed - 13 (previous record was 23 vs. Pacific, 2/22/2005)
- Largest Winning Margin - 98 (previous record was 76 vs. Columbia Christian, 104-28, 1/30/1993)
- Most Field Goals - 47 (previous record was 44 vs. Columbia Christian, 1/30/1993)
- Most Assists - 34 (previous record was 27 vs. Northwest Nazarene, 2/8/1991, and vs. Columbia Christian, 1/30/93
- Lowest Opponents' Field Goal Pct. - .105, 4-38 (previous record was .136, 8-59 at Whitman, 2/19/2000)
The game with the Lions was not on the team's earliest schedules, but was added when another school dropped George Fox from its schedule and Bruin coach Scott Rueck needed to fill out his D-III quota of 25 games. Multnomah is in its first year of women's basketball and has only eight players, five of them freshmen and none over 5-10, while the Bruins have 13 letterwinners, seven seniors, and six players 6-0 or better. All 13 Bruins who dressed out scored, led by freshman Jordan Westering with 16 points, all played between 10-20 minutes, and three Bruin starters played only 10 minutes. George Fox's largest lead was 100 points at 111-11 before the Lions got a pair of free throws with 36 seconds left, and the Bruins made no serious effort to get it back up to 100 again.
