Scott Rueck (Oregon State '91), the 2006-07 Northwest Conference Coach of the Year, is 208-80 (.722) to date in his 12th season as a college head coach, all at George Fox. He also received NWC Coach of the Year honors in 1999-2000, 2000-01 (Co-Coach), and 2004-05. * Shielee Named Athlete of the Week, HM for NWC Honors
Junior post Kristin Shielee has been named the Bruin Athletic Association Women's Athlete of the Week and also received honorable mention for Northwest Conference Player of the Week for Dec. 3-9 for her fine game against Warner Pacific on Dec. 8. She scored 8 points in the Bruins' 71-30 win, hitting 4-6 from the field, with a career high of 10 rebounds, a career-high tying 4 blocked shots, and 2 assists - and all in only 11 minutes! She averages 5.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.6 blocked shots per game this season despite playing less than 10 minute a game, and would rank 2nd in the NWC in blocked shots and 8th in rebounding if she had played in enough games to qualify.

With a 5-0 start, the George Fox Bruins have climbed to 15th in the D3hoops.com NCAA Division III national poll of Dec. 10, receiving 252 points after being 17th with 198 points the week before. In the USA Today / ESPN poll of Dec. 10 as voted on by the Women's Basketball Coaches of America, George Fox moved up seven spots from 23rd with 49 points to 16th with 77 points.
George Fox has been ranked in the polls six of the past eight years (2000-2002 and 2005-2007). The Bruins' highest ranking ever was No. 1, a spot they held for two week in February of 2001.
The only other Northwest Conference team in the rankings is Puget Sound, which was 25th in the D3hoops.com poll. The WBCA poll has Hope as the No. 1 team, while the D3hoops.com poll kept Mary Washington as its top team where it has been all season.
