3/10 - Golf Pro Brian Henninger Donates $4,000 to New Bruin Women's Golf Program

NEWBERG, Ore. - PGA golfer Brian Henninger of Wilsonville today made a $4,000 donation to the new women's golf program at George Fox University through his Brian Henninger Foundation.

Henninger made the contribution at an event introducing new coach MaryJo McCloskey at the Wood-Mar Hall office of George Fox President Dr. David Brandt.

Bruin Director of Athletics Craig Taylor, who accepted the donation from Henninger, acknowledged the gift by saying, "We appreciate the generosity of Brian Henninger and the Henninger Foundation in helping us lay a foundation for the new women's intercollegiate golf team here at George Fox. We hope to build a program that will represent the university well, and gifts such as this are, and will continue to be, an important component of any success we might have in the future."

Henninger, a two-time NCAA Division I All-American at the University of Southern California, is a three-time Nationwide Tour winner and two-time PGA Tour winner. He was the third-round leader in the 1995 Masters. He is a Taylormade Tour player who calls the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort and the Oregon Golf Club his home courses. He is an honorary board member of Special Olympics Oregon.

The Brian Henninger Foundation was established in 1999 for the purpose of raising money for children's charities in Oregon. The Foundation supports causes that focus on children's health, education, and athletic endeavors. The Foundation has contributed over $305,000 to organizations such as the Make-a-Wish Foundation, the Children's Miracle Network, Boys and Girls Clubs, Outdoor School, the Children's Cancer Association, Oregon Partnership, Special Olympics Oregon, The Children's Course-First Tee Program, the Evans Scholarship Fund, the Crest Center for Environmental Learning, Boys and Girls Aid Society, and Teach the Children.

The Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization which raises money through its annual golf tournament, "The Fireside Chat", and through individual and corporate donations. The Foundation and its golf tournament are administered by a volunteer board of directors, so that the charities receive 100 percent of the donations.
